Dehradun, Nov. 6 -- Two men were arrested with 3 kilograms of opium in their possession in Udham Singh Nagar on Wednesday, police said, adding that the action was taken by a joint team from the special task force and the district police. The accused were identified as Salim Ali (45) and Sher Mohammed (35), both from Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh, they added. According to senior superintendent of police Navneet Singh Bhullar, the drugs seized were worth around Rs.36 lakh in the international market. "They have previously been successful in bringing large consignments of drugs to Uttarakhand several times. One of the arrested criminals, Salim, has a case registered against him for a robbery of 40 lakhs in 2015 at Baheri police station in Bareilly. He also has several other cases registered against him under the Indian Penal Code," he said. He said, "We are conducting a detailed interrogation to ascertain who else is involved in this network."
