2 killed as bike rams into tractor-trolley
Jalandhar, April 14 -- Two youths were killed in a road accident in Malsian town ofJalandhar district on Monday, police said.
The deceased have been identified as Rahul (32) and Mohit Kumar (22), bothresidents of Lohian Khas. The incident occurred around 11 am on the Malsian-LohianKhas road, police said.
Police said that, according to eyewitnesses, the motorcycle,being driven by thevictims, first rammed into another motorcycle coming from the opposite side.
"The victims' vehicle then rammed into a sand-laden tractor trolley. Both victims died on the spot," the police said.
Both victims were rushed to the local hospital, where the doctors declared them dead. Police said the tractor-trolley driver managed to flee from thespot.
A case has been registered under Sections of 106 (causing death by negligence),281 (rash driving) and 125-A (endangering life or personal safety of others) ofBharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, police added.
A "speeding" SUV (Thar) dragged a biker for several metres, leading to his death in Barnala, police said on Monday. The deceased has been identified as Jagtar Singh.
The mishap took place on Sunday when the victim, along with his wife, was heading towards the Barnala city market. Deceased's wife stated in his police complaint that there was a traffic jam near Tarksheel Chowk so she got off the bike. At that moment, a "speeding" Thar hit the bike, dragging Jagtar up to some distance, she stated.
As passersby gathered, SUV driver, identified as Dharamveer Singh, offered to take the victim to a hospital but fled after some time, she further mentioned in her police complaint.
Victim's son Shamsher Singh arrived minutes later following which Jagtar was taken to the Barnala civil hospital where doctors declared him dead.
Police officials said an FIR has been registered against Dharamveer Singh, a resident of Balloke in Barnala, under Sections 281 (rash driving), 106(1) (causing death by negligence acts) and 324(4) (mischief) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at the Barnala city police station.
