2 illegal structures razed in Kharar, Zirakpur
Mohali, May 30 -- Two unauthorised commercial structures were demolished in Kharar and Zirakpur on Thursday on the directions of Punjab local government minister Dr Ravjot Singh and Mohali deputy commissioner Komal Mittal.
In Kharar, the action was taken in Gillco Valley, Sector 115, after it was found that no approved layout plan had been sanctioned by the executive officer concerned. Also, the builder didn't take the mandatory registration number from the Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA), officials said.
The Akhil Bhartiya Grahak Panchayat (ABGP) had complained regarding this to the Mohali deputy commissioner who directed ADC (urban development) Anmol Singh Dhaliwal to raze the structure and take steps to recall the land's registration via the local tehsildar. The demolition took place in the presence of Kharar Municipal Council (MC) officials and complainants.
Authorities reiterated that no construction can be carried out without a sanctioned map or RERA registration, warning that strict action would be taken against violators.
In Zirakpur's Peer Muchhalla area, MC razed an illegal wine shop on the orders of Punjab local government minister Ravjot Singh. MLA Kuljit Singh Randhawa said, "The wine shop was illegally operating on MC land. We thank minister Ravjot Singh for immediate action." DC Komal Mittal confirmed that the encroachment was removed promptly and the local government minister was informed. Minister Dr Ravjot Singh said unauthorised structures would not be tolerated....
