Barnala, March 10 -- Two persons, including a bystander, were injured when they were assaulted by a group of youths after a spat in Barnala, police said on Monday. Six persons have been arrested. The injured have been admitted to the civil hospital. Tapa deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Gurpreet Singh said the main accused, Jasveer Singh from Saidoke village, and one Rishab Garg had an argument over some issue at a cafe. After Rishab left, Jasveer called his accomplices - Avtar Singh, Sukhvir Singh, Sajjan Khan, Sukhjit Sigh, Gurpreet Singh and Rajveer Singh - and went to a shop owned by Rishab's uncle. The group had a licensed pistol of Rajveer. Rishab was not there. The group assaulted Prince Kumar (Rishab's cousin) and Harpreet Singh, a bystander. As local residents surrounded the group, the suspects opened fire and fled the scene, police said. An FIR has been registered under Sections 109 (attempt to murder), 115 (2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 333 (house trespass/assault), 190 (unlawful assembly) and 191 (rioting) of the BNS, along with relevant sections of the Arms Act, has been registered.
