2 bodies found in U'khand market, four held: Police
Haldwani, Feb. 13 -- Four people were arrested on Thursday for the murder of a 31-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman in Uttarakhand's Haldwani, police said.
According to police, it launched a murder investigation after their bludgeoned bodies were found lying in the Mandi (grain) market area on Bareilly Road around 7.30 am.
The deceased were identified as Golu Tamta (31), a resident of Almora district, and Laxmi Pokhariya (19), a resident of Nainital district. SSP Nainital, Manjunath TC said: "The victims' faces appeared to have been crushed with stones. A blood-stained stone was also recovered from near the bodies," he said. Police said the accused and the deceased were friends, and they were sitting together drinking alcohol when a scuffle broke out between them.
The accused have been identified as Gaurav Negi (25) alias Akku Thakur, Saurabh Bhatt alias Bhatiya (20), Deepu Sharma alias Dhruv (20) and Deepesh Latwal alias Raj (25).
