2 arrested in Rs.50L extortion, firing case in Ferozepur
Ferozepur, Oct. 17 -- Police on Thursday arrested two individuals in connection with an extortion and firing case involving a ransom demand of Rs.50 lakh.
According to SP Manjit Singh, the accused had demanded ransom from Jasandeep Singh, a resident of Badni Gulab Singh village. When the victim refused to pay, the accused allegedly fired two gunshots at the gate of his residence on Friday night, causing panic in the area.
An FIR was registered under Sections 125, 308(4), and 351(3) of the IPC along with Section 25 of the Arms Act. Using technical surveillance, the police arrested Tarsem Singh alias Saba and Lovedeep Singh alias Lovely. The police recovered a country-made pistol, two live cartridges, a motorcycle used in the crime, and a mobile phone from the accused.
Further investigation revealed that both men have criminal histories. Tarsem, a resident of Bandala, was previously booked in a murder case and under the Arms Act, while Lovedeep, a resident of Badni Gulab Singh, has been previously booked under Sections 376 (rape), 363 (kidnapping), and 366A (procuration of minor girl) of the IPC, said SP Singh....
