2 arrested in Phagwara for bid to murder Haridwar hotelier
Haridwar, June 13 -- Haridwar Police arrested two men in Punjab for allegedly attempting to murder a person, police officers aware of the matter said on Thursday, adding that the operation is linked to a violent rivalry between the two gangs of Nandu and Manjeet Mahal, which recently escalated with a targeted shooting at a hotelier in Haridwar.
Senior superintendent of Haridwar district Pramendra Dobhal during a press briefing said that the two of the five accused involved in firing on Haryana-based hotelier Arun (25) near Sukhi rivulet in Haridwar on June 2 have been arrested by a joint City police and Crime Investigation Unit (CIU) team from Phagwara, Punjab, on Wednesday night and brought to Haridwar on Thursday.
Dobhal said, "On June 2, a hotel businessman, Arun (25), a resident of Rohtak (Haryana), was shot near the Sukhi bridge in the Kankhal area of Haridwar by unidentified bike-borne assailants. The victim was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, and based on his father's complaint, a case was registered under Section 109(2) BNS at Kotwali Nagar Police Station....
