Bengaluru, Aug. 2 -- Two people accused of kidnapping and murdering a 13-year-old boy in Bengaluru, Karnataka, were arrested after attempts to resist arrest led to cops shooting them on the leg, officials said on Friday. Accused Gurumurthy (30) and Gopalakrishna (26) were shot in their leg by police on Thursday night after they allegedly tried to resist arrest and attacked a team of officers with sharp weapons, said Electronic City DCP M Narayan. The victim, identified as Nischit, went missing of July 30 while returning from his tuition classes. Gurumurthy, who earlier worked as a part-time driver for the family, lured away the boy with cake. Then both accused slit his throat and set the body on fire before making a WhatsApp call to the boy's father, demanding Rs.5 lakh for his release, the DCP said. The victim's family informed police about the ransom call at around 8am on July 31. "We swung into action and managed to arrest both accused by night," the DCP said....
