Mohali, Dec. 20 -- A 17-year-old boy was killed and his friend suffered critical injuries after their motorcycle skidded and came under a truck near Chhat light point on the Zirakpur-Patiala highway on Saturday. Police said the deceased, Dhruv, was a resident of Banur. The injured youth, Shivam, 18, also from Banur, is undergoing treatment at PGIMER, Chandigarh. According to police, the two were travelling on a motorcycle from Zirakpur towards Banur, when the rider lost control of the vehicle near the traffic light point. The motorcycle slipped, causing both youths to fall onto the road and come under the rear tyres of a moving truck. A team of the State Safety Force (SSF) reached the spot after being alerted and shifted both youths to the Dera Bassi civil hospital. Due to the severity of their injuries, doctors referred them to PGIMER. However, Dhruv succumbed on the way to the hospital, while Shivam remains in critical condition and is receiving treatment.
