11-year-old among 3 killed ascar rams into tree in Faridkot
BATHINDA, Nov. 10 -- Three people, including an 11-year-old child, were killed and five others sustained injuries after a speeding car rammed into a tree near Chandbhan village in Faridkot district on Sunday, police said.
The deceased have been identified as Rajwinder Singh, 11, his grandmother, Simranjot Kaur, 60, and Angrez Kaur, 75.
Eyewitnesses said the trio died on the spot. The injured were rushed to the Faridkot civil hospital. The car driver, Sandeep Singh 22, was among the injured. The victims were heading to a resort near Jaito to attend a wedding function.
"Initial information says that Sandeep was ferrying villagers to the marriage venue. As he was transporting a group of villagers, he lost control over the vehicle and it rammed into a tree," said Jaito deputy superintendent of police, Iqbal Singh.
"Prima facie, it appears that the car was being driven at a high speed. We are conducting a thorough probe," he added....
