Chandigarh, May 26 -- The UT education department has received 10,351 applications for 13,875 total seats in just five days since beginning the admission process for Class 11 in government schools. As per the latest data shared by the department, out of the total applications, 6,887 have been received from students who were enrolled in Class 10 at city-based government schools. They will be applicable for 85% quota for Class 11 seats at Chandigarh's government schools, while 3,464 students from private schools and other states will have to compete for the remaining 15% seats. Students from various states have also applied for admission in the city's schools. Out of the total applications, 8,178 are from the city, 1,288 are from Punjab and 716 are from Haryana. Students from other states, including Himachal Pradesh, Bihar, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Kerala and Manipur have also applied for admissions. Students can fill the registration forms up to June 6 by visiting government schools. These will be submitted online at www.chdeducation.gov.in. To facilitate students in online submission of scanned documents, admission help desks have been set up in all government senior secondary and high schools. These would function from 9 am to 12 noon on all working days. The classes shall commence from July 1....
