1 arrested for promoting liquor delivery in varsity
Rudrapur, Feb. 22 -- A 24-year-old man was arrested on Saturday for promoting home delivery of liquor in Pantnagar University campus of US Nagar, police said.
"Police received a complaint from the Pantnagar University administration that a man is involved in the publicity of liquor delivery in university campus. Police started a search and arrested him on Saturday," said US Nagar SSP Ajay Ganpati.
The accused was identified as Devasheesh Vishwas of Tagore Nagar village in Shaktifarm under Sitarganj police station.
He was allegedly circulating cards through newspapers claiming delivery of liquor in university campus.
The lines on the cards were 'Fast delivery, enjoy a drink at the comfort and safety of your home, we are just a call away.'
University administration complained to the police to trace the man in the interest of the peaceful atmosphere of the university.
A team was formed to trace the person.
SSP said during the probe the man's name came into light.
He was arrested under relevant sections of the BNS and produced in court from where he was sent to jail, police said....
