'Whimsical Wonders' unfold as St Joseph's little ones steal hearts
Chandigarh, Dec. 30 -- St Joseph's Sr Secondary School, Primary 1 Block, celebrated its cultural showcase 'Whimsical Wonders' in the gracious presence of Harpreet Kaur Babla, mayor, Chandigarh municipal corporation, as Chief Guest, and Nirmal Sharma, Deputy DEO (1), UT Education Department, Chandigarh, as Guest of Honour; their encouraging presence added warmth and pride to the occasion. Principals of collaborating schools also graced the event. The programme commenced with the release of balloons - a sight that beautifully reflected the spirit of childhood.
The vibrant line-up opened with 'Vatratunda Vandana', a soulful invocation to Lord Ganesha. 'Digital Detox' urged mindful use of technology, followed by 'Folk Frenzy', which celebrated India's cultural richness through Rajasthani puppetry and Gujarati garba. 'Aussie Groove' brought global energy with an Australian drill dance.
A stirring piece on 'Zero Hunger' inspired compassion through simple acts of sharing, while 'Echoes of Devotion' beautifully portrayed a mother's lullaby and Krishna's innocence. 'Viva Espana' swept the audience into Spanish festivity, culminating in 'Rhythm of Champions', a spirited salute to courage and the girls' cricket team's inspiring victory.
Engaging fillers infused the programme with warmth, wit, and meaning-from the reflective poem 'Gift of Time' to light-hearted jokes and a lively Shabd, each creating moments that made the audience smile and stay connected. Students also presented a light yet impactful 'COP 30' filler, using humor to stress urgent climate action, ending with the reminder: "Protect our planet-there is no Planet B."
A key highlight of the event was the unfurling of the SDG Programme Banner, announcing St Joseph's commitment to implementing 12 Sustainable Development Goals through purposeful learning and action.
The event was graced by Siddharatha Sharma (MCSFS), Wildlifer and Mission Facilitator, DECC, Govt. of Punjab, to whom a cheque for animal adoption was presented, reaffirming the school's commitment to nurturing compassion in children.
Principal Monica Chawla presented the annual school report, highlighting the school's major achievements and the recognition it had earned. She proudly noted that the school had won 11 awards this year, celebrated the many accolades earned by teachers for their dedication, highlighted the remarkable successes of sports students....
