'VIP' link: Victim's father seeks CBI probe
Dehradun, Jan. 9 -- Father of the 19-year-old Pauri receptionist, who was murdered in 2022, has written a letter to the chief minister, seeking a CBI probe into the allegations that a "VIP" was involved in the case. He has demanded that the investigation be held under the monitoring of a Supreme Court judge.
"I have written a letter to the CM in which I have highlighted that the name of the VIP due to whom my daughter died, has not been revealed yet. I want a CBI investigation under the monitoring of a Supreme Court judge into the matter so that the guilty can be punished. I have handed over the letter to the officials, after meeting the CM," he said.
The deceased, a resident of Pauri Garhwal district, worked as a receptionist at Vanantra Resort in Yamkeshwar, Rishikesh.
Her body was found in September 2022 from the Chilla canal. In May 2025, a Kotdwar court in Pauri Garhwal sentenced the resort owner Pulkit Arya, son of expelled BJP leader Vinod Arya, along with employees Saurabh Bhaskar andAnkit Gupta to life in the murder case.
Dhami on Wednesday met the parents of the victim of the Pauri Garhwal receptionist murder case at his official residence in Dehradun. During the meeting, the parents shared their views and emotions regarding their daughter's case with Dhami.
The chief minister assured the family that the state government stands firmly with them. He said ensuring justice in the case is the government's top priority and assured the family of all possible support.
Even as the Delhi high court on Wednesday directed the removal of social media posts linking BJP leader Dushyant Gautam to the 2022 Pauri Garhwal receptionist murder within 24 hours, the Uttarakhand Congress said its allegations were based on content shared by Urmila Sanawar, who claims to be wife of former BJP MLA Suresh Rathore, and it would continue to push for a CBI probe in the case.
"Our allegations are purely based on the audio and video clips shared by Urmila Sanawar, who claims to be wife of former BJP MLA Suresh Rathore. We are seeking an impartial investigation into those allegations. We didn't name any leader from the BJP who was allegedly involved in the 2022 murder case. Our stand is clear that whoever was involved should be brought to book. We will continue to struggle seeking a CBI probe into the matter. It has become a people's movement now. Why was the government scared to order a CBI probe if none of their leader was involved in the case?" said Suryakant Dhasmana, state Congress vice-president....
