'The fear I saw around me as I drove back to Delhi with my family was real'
India, May 12 -- A
ctor Mohitt Maalik was enjoying a holiday in North India with his wife, actor Aditi Malik, and his four-year-old son Ekbir when tensions between India and Pakistan escalated. Speaking to us, he recalls his harrowing journey back to Delhi, calling the experience scary and uncertain.
Mohitt says, "We were scheduled to board a flight from Chandigarh to Mumbai, which was cancelled. We then decided to drive back to Delhi, passing through sensitive areas such as Mohali (Punjab) and Ambala (Haryana) during the day. It was scary. The sense of unease that I felt when I made our way through areas that had already begun to witness increased security and public fear was so real."
The actor adds, "I can't express how worried I was. The most terrifying part was that I had my child with me. We made sure to cross Punjab in the daytime. I didn't want to risk driving through those areas after dark."
Mohitt also recalls the palpable fear in people. "There was so much traffic, and people looked scared. The atmosphere felt tense and gloomy," says the 41-year-old, adding, "I'm blessed to be home."...
