India, Dec. 19 -- An awareness talk show, 'Obesity Free Punjab: From Heavy to Healthy', was organised at Massh-Prolife Hospital at Gill village, Malerkotla Road, Ludhiana, on Sunday, during which important information on obesity treatment and health awareness was shared. The show was addressed by Dr Harpreet Singh Jolly, director, Massh-Prolife Hospital, where attendees were offered free check-ups, health consultations and special discounts on bariatric surgery. A senior dietician was also present there, who provided guidance on diet plans and safe methods of weight loss. "Obesity has emerged as a major challenge for society. Particularly in Punjab, weight gain has become common across age groups. Obesity is not merely a cosmetic concern but a leading cause of several serious health conditions, including diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, joint pain and sleep apnoea," Dr Jolly said. "When weight control cannot be achieved through exercise, diet or medication, bariatric surgery is a safer and effective scientific option. The procedure helps patients achieve long-term weight loss and relief from several obesity-related ailments, with many reporting significant improvements in their quality of life," he added. The hospital management appealed to the public to understand that obesity is not a matter of shame, but a medical condition that requires timely treatment and informed action. HTC...
