'I want to be that actor who eases a producer's burden'
India, Sept. 20 -- Shortly after actor Aamir Khan slammed stars for charging production houses for his staff, Harshvardhan Rane pledged to cover the expenses of his own entourage (see Instagram post above). The move, the actor tells us, is another step towards his goal of "becoming a profitable actor": "My dream has always been to become the actor who gets maximum returns for producers."
It wasn't only Aamir who guided his decision. The 41-year-old adds, "(Filmmaker) Rajiv Rai's interview and a few legends from the South film industry also inspired me to be fair to producers."
The choice is less about changing the industry and more about what feels right for him. "Change begins at home and I'm only doing my bit by paying for my entourage out of my own pocket. I don't know if it will impact a larger change in the industry's working culture or mindset," he says.
Harshvardhan insists that he didn't "come here to make a difference in the industry". "I always just wanted to do my duties towards my career as my heart wanted to," he ends....
