Chandigarh, Dec. 5 -- President of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) Harmeet Singh Kalka has raised the issue regarding the overlap of two major Sikh observances on December 27 this year. The martyrdom day of the younger Sahibzadas of the tenth Sikh master Guru Gobind Singh - Baba Zorawar Singh and Baba Fateh Singh - coincides with the birth anniversary (Parkash Purb) of Guru Gobind Singh, creating a confusion for the Sikh community. The martyrdom day, known as Shaheedi Purb, is marked by somber remembrance, while the Prakash Purb of Guru Gobind Singh is a joyous occasion of reverence and celebration.
