India, Dec. 27 -- Bringing together over 5,300 women participants, the 10th edition of the Zydus Pinkathon Mumbai, held on December 20 and 21 at the MMRDA Grounds, BKC, reaffirmed its position as one of India's largest women's running event. The two-day meet featured 3 km, 5 km, 10 km and the ultra distances of 50 km, 75 km and 100 km races, drawing runners across age groups, abilities, and fitness levels.A major highlight of the Mumbai edition was the setting of a world record for the maximum number of visually impaired women (115) running together across various categories. The Mumbai run also saw several women volunteer for hair donation, with Pinkathon founder Milind Soman cutting their hair on stage. The donated hair will be used to create wigs for cancer patients, extending the event's long-standing association with breast cancer awareness and survivor support beyond the race course. Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) recorded the highest corporate registrations with 284 runners, pointing to growing workplace engagement in women's fitness. Milind says, "What stands out every year is not just the numbers, but the diversity of women who show up: from visually impaired runners and first-timers to competitive athletes, from saree-wearing participants and homemakers to corporate employees, and from mothers carrying babies to women in their 70s and 80s."A day earlier, Daksha Kanavia, 74, ran in 50 km, becoming the oldest participant and Neelima Kale, 68, who recently recovered from a fractured pelvis, completed the 100 km distance. Ankita Konwar, founder of the Invincible Women's Run, says, "What we're seeing here is consistency, women showing up year after year, across distances and ages. Events like this help normalise long-distance running for women and create space for both performance, participation and inspiration to grow side by side." Zydus Pinkathon heads to Bengaluru on January 25, followed by Hyderabad on February 15....
