India, May 17 -- Silence becomes cowardice when occasion demands speaking out the whole truth and acting accordingly." And when this 'silence' comes from people who millions look up to as their 'icons' and 'inspiration', it almost feels like a betrayal... betrayal of the trust the masses place in them. The silence from many of our celebs throughout the recent India-Pakistan conflict has been deafening. As the nation grappled with the rapid turn of events, many public figures couldn't make up their minds: some took too long to say anything, some wrote gibberish tweets, while some chose not to say anything at all - to date. And some jumped at the chance to register Operation Sindoor, our fight against terrorism, as a potential title for their upcoming films. How difficult was it to put out something in praise of the operation, which was our country's fight against terrorism? Do our actors need a script on even how to stand with their nation? Were some of them more worried about their fans in places other than their own country? Why did Turkey forget 'Operation Dost' when India was the first country to help them in their 2023 earthquake crisis? All these questions have been raised by Sonal Kalra, Chief Managing Editor, Lifestyle & Entertainment, in her show MiPhi presents The Right Angle with Sonal Kalra, this week. Social media is flooded with boycott calls for certain stars who, it seems, strategically timed their messages for the nation just before a project was coming out. Many of them have often been a part of patriotic films - which is why their voice has become important. But the illusion seems to have broken. A new episode of MiPhi presents The Right Angle with Sonal Kalra drops every Friday at 7pm across Hindustan Times, Hindustan, and Mint's YouTube channels. Don't miss it!htc...
