India, Sept. 11 -- Princess Fiona and Shrek's love story from the animated fantasy comedy film series has inspired a new dating trend, but with an unexpected turn. Contrary to what is shown in the film, Shrekking is about dating someone less attractive than you for a "happy love life". "You're dating an ogre without the princess treatment," dating coach Amy Chan told USA Today, adding, "It backfires when someone assumes that just because they're dating 'down' in looks, they'll be treated better automatically." The primary problem with Shrekking is its emphasis on appearance alone. "The idea is that you stepped outside your comfort zone, but instead of being rewarded with growth or connection, you wound up regretting the experience," relationship expert Emma Hathorn told the outlet. "The goal is to develop better assessment skills for character, values and emotional availability. Physical attraction matters in relationships, but it shouldn't be the inverse predictor of good treatment that some people assume it to be," Chan added....
