Vishal Jethwa on Homebound going to Oscars: First call was to mum
India, Sept. 21 -- Actor Vishal Jethwa manifested Homebound going to the Oscars, and now it is India's official entry in the Best International Feature Film category.
"Very few films have this journey from Cannes to Indian Film Festival of Melbourne, TIFF, and Oscars. It feels surreal when these names are associated with your film," says the 31-year-old.
Vishal was on a set with his manager when the news broke, but he stopped her from telling him. "I wanted to get the news from my mum. So I called her and she was the first to share this with me," he gushes. He next spoke to director Neeraj Ghaywan, producer Karan Johar, co-stars Ishaan Khatter and Janhvi Kapoor, and casting director Shanoo Sharma, who gave him his big break in Mardaani 2 (2019).
"I feel like bhagwan ka bachcha, ki usne mujhe chuna hai to play not just this character but to have this journey that may inspire someone, too," he says, adding, "The confidence is building up, but so is the nervousness till its Indian release. I know our film is good and we have trust in it, but the nervous excitement of how the audience receives it will be there."...
