India, Oct. 10 -- Fridge magnets are no longer just vacation keepsakes; they're now DIY art projects . Across cities, artists are hosting hands-on workshops where people of all ages craft their own personalised magnets, from food-shaped delights to photo souvenirs, adding a fun, personal twist to home decor.
Artist Shweta Divgi Dhayatkar says the process is suitable for all ages, with kids above eight and adults alike enjoying the workshops. "The fridge magnets are unique, and have a personal touch that store-bought ones lack," she says, adding, "No prior art experience is needed; all materials are provided, and step-by-step guidance is given. The workshops usually last an hour. People love making something small yet personal to decorate their homes or gift loved ones."
Food shapes are extremely popular among attendees, says artist Shobha Laddha. "My students enjoy creating food-shaped fridge magnets, such as dosas, donuts, and pizzas. Others enjoy creating beverages like espressos and lattes. Regardless of age, students enjoy playing and experimenting with clay dough. DIY magnets can also feature family photos, inside jokes or meaningful symbols. It's a fun way to make a kitchen feel more personal and cosy," she adds.
Harshita Gupta, owner of an online craft supplies store, says, "Fridge magnets have really made a comeback. People now people see them as a form of self-expression and home decor, and not just souvenirs. Customers love how these small pieces can instantly personalise their spaces."...
