Suriya and Jyotika's 17-year-old daughter Diya makes her directorial debut
India, Sept. 28 -- Actor couple Suriya and Jyotika's 17-year-old daughter Diya Suriya has made her directorial debut with the short docu-drama Leading Light. Produced under the family's banner, the film focuses on the experiences of women gaffers working in Bollywood.
The film is currently on an Oscar-qualifying run at the Regency Theatre, Los Angeles, with screenings scheduled from September 26 to October 2. According to reports, Leading Light runs for about 13 minutes and includes interviews with lighting technicians Hetall Deddhia, Priyanka Singh, and Leena Gangurde.
2D Entertainment announced the project on X, writing: "#LeadingLight The untold stories of Women behind the scenes - A docu-drama that discusses the experiences of Women Gaffers of Bollywood. Screening for the 'Oscar qualifying run' at the Regency Theatre, LA, California. Congratulations, our dearest #DiyaSuriya (sic)."
Diya had graduated earlier this year from the University of Southern California. In a joint Instagram post shared in May, Suriya and Jyoti shared a photo of Diya on Instagram. They captioned it, "All we feel right now is proud. May your choices reflect your hopes and not your fears. All the very best, Diya. Amma Appa's blessings forever." htc...
