India, Dec. 29 -- Telugu actor Sivaji Sontineni appeared before the Telangana State Commission for Women on Saturday after being summoned over "inappropriate" and "unparliamentary" remarks he made about women's clothing choices at a film event on December 22, where he suggested that women artistes should dress "conservatively" to avoid harassment. At the inquiry, the 54-year-old admitted his mistake and tendered an unconditional apology, formally withdrawing his comments in their entirety. It stressed that event organisers must be held accountable for ensuring the safety and security of women at promotional functions. The Commission also advised film producers and directors to exercise greater responsibility in portraying women's roles and costumes, urging the industry to prioritise a culture of safety and respect over victim-blaming narratives. Emerging from the Commission's office late in the afternoon, Sivaji told the media, "What I have understood is that one must stop giving advice, even if it is good advice. I will explain later. My intention is, let us end it here." hTC...
