Shriya's Diwali tradition with mum: A week of rangolis!
India, Oct. 20 -- For Shriya Pilgaonkar, Diwali isn't complete without a ritual she shares with her mother, veteran actor Supriya Pilgaonkar - making rangoli together. "I've been filming for the past few weeks and just got back to Mumbai, so now I'm completely in festive mode," says Shriya. "As Maharashtrians, we have certain Diwali-specific traditions, and one that mom and I never miss is making rangolis together. She's amazing at it! We make one for each day of the Diwali week. Our neighbours also join in, and we make paper candles together," says Shriya.
The actor, who will next be seen in Haiwaan alongside Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan, says the festive mood lingers long after the lights go out. "It feels like the beginning of the end of the year, but in such a positive way. After Diwali, the year just tapers into the holiday season," she smiles.
Reminiscing about one of her most memorable Diwalis, Shriya recalls celebrating away from home. "It was during the shoot of my British series Beecham House, directed by Gurinder Chadha," she says and adds, "We were filming in Jaipur during Diwali, and we celebrated on set with both the British and Indian crew. It was such a special experience, a mix of cultures, lights and togetherness."...
