India, June 8 -- Dipika Kakar recently underwent a 14-hour surgery to treat her stage 2 liver cancer. The actor's husband, actor Shoaib Ibrahim, shared a health update in a YouTube video that he posted online on Friday night. He told her fans that doctors had operated on Dipika's liver and a portion of the organ had to be removed to get rid of the tumour. "Joh bhi uska tumour tha woh bahut hi acche se bahar agayi hai. Nothing to worry, as liver is an organ that can regenerate itself,"he said in the video. She also underwent a surgery to remove her gall bladder as she had a stone. As it was a major surgery, he also mentioned that Dipika was in the ICU for three days. He went on to add, "Dipika will stay in the hospital for another three to five days, as advised by the doctors. The surgery was major, she was in the OT (operation theatre) for 14 hours. It was a difficult time." While her doctors informed them that the surgery would take time, Shoaib spoke about how her family began to worry when she didn't come out of the operation room for such an extended amount of time. Shoaib shared, "I was with Dipika till 8.30 am, before her surgery started," he said in the video, but when the actor didn't come out "post 6-7pm, my family members and I started to panic". However, the surgery was a success and she was shifted to the ICU by 11.30pm to recuperate. He said, "We had never experienced a long surgery such as this. It was normal to be a little scared." During the video, Shoaib shared that Dipika "is showing great signs of recovery". Post the operation, she was on a liquid diet, but "is back to eating normal food. She has started walking and her blood reports are also normal". Talking about the couple's son Ruhaan, Shoaib shared that the toddler stayed away from his mum for three night, but he was brought to the hospital to meet Dipika.
