Shaleen ventures into direction:I have not left acting
India, Nov. 18 -- Shaleen Malhotra, known for his work on TV, is stepping into direction next. Calling it a 'gradual shift', the actor says "I've always been someone who pushes for creative satisfaction more than monetary satisfaction." Shaleen, who was last seen in Vanshaj says that sharing his work with actor-singer Suyyash Rai sparked the journey and that moving behind the camera felt natural. "Being on set, learning how shots and emotions are captured, directing felt right," he says, noting seasoned actors made the transition easier.
He further adds, what has prompted many TV actors to venture into production: "As actors, our ecosystem is the set: directors, DOPs, creatives, writers. Diversifying within the industry is easier than venturing into something alien."
Ask him, if this is the end of his acting career? Shaleen denies: "I can't take the actor out of me. My direction is emotion-led, which helps me connect with actors."
Launching the project under his banner. Shaleen aims at a 2026 release. Despite OTT saturation, the actor feels confident. "I was scared of how it would turn out on edit. When it matched my vision, there was no looking back."...
