India, June 27 -- In an attempt to boost tourism and create new economic opportunities for local communities, the Ministry of Civil Aviation plans to launch seaplane services. They will ply on several dams in Maharashtra, including Pune, Nashik, and Nagpur, under the UDAN 5.5 scheme. Other states, including Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, and Lakshadweep, too, will be getting their own planes soon, as the first phase of the plan will begin rolling out in these destinations that boast of water-related tourism. This initiative aims to enhance regional air connectivity, promote tourism, and provide affordable air travel to remote areas.
