Say yes to wheat, no to supplements: Rujuta Diwekar
India, June 8 -- Nutritionist Rujuta Diwekar's popularity graph rose thanks to actor Kareena Kapoor Khan's size zero physique back in 2008. But there's more to her than this tag. She is a celebrity nutritionist chased by the likes of actors Alia Bhatt and Saif Ali Khan and businessman Anil Ambani. But Rujuta actually feels that "no one needs one" since "nutritionists only confuse people". She is absolutely against diets, fads, and deprivation, and goes on a limb to champion the benefits of homegrown foods consumed by millions in an average Indian household.
In Delhi to launch her 10th book The Commonsense Diet, Rujuta shares that she would have knocked off "diet" from the title but ultimately gave in to the publisher.
In an interview, she busts myths about diets, fads, and starvation. Here are some of her replies regarding her "eat everything" formula.

There is no such thing as disease specific diet - if you have cancer, eat this; if you have diabetes, eat that; eat this for cholesterol; eat this for weight loss. You only need to eat balanced meals at home.
A yes, when they are in season. Even the American Diabetes Association recommends mangoes, in fact, all fruits for diabetics....
