Satish ji was like Indravadan in real life, says Deven
India, Oct. 28 -- Early in his career, Deven Bhojani directed the late Satish Shah on the sitcom Sarabhai vs Sarabhai. As both director and cast member, playing Dushyant Painter, Deven had a unique perspective on Satish, who died on Saturday. The 55-year-old recalls that Satish's personality mirrored his character, the quick-witted Indravadan.
"He was like Indravadan Sarabhai in real life," Deven tells us, adding, "So, when we narrated his character, he said, 'Arre ye o meri story hai. 'Main hi hun Indravadhan.' In his personal life also, he was very naughty and a kid."
He continues, "He had this condition that he would only shoot 9 to 6, but our shoot days used to be 9 to 9. So we would finish all his takes by 6pm. I would pack him up, but he would hang around there and do masti with other artists, and we would tell him, 'Satish ji aap please jaaiye.' He was a pure-hearted soul. He was pure gold.
