India, Aug. 11 -- After a prolonged legal battle, Udaipur Files: Kanhaiya Lal Tailor Murder has finally had a theatrical release. However, the makers' troubles haven't ended there. Following the film's recent release, producer Amit Jani has now claimed to have received death threats over the film. Udaipur Files premiered across India last week after the Delhi High Court refused to stay its release. The controversial film is based on the real-life murder of tailor Kanhaiya Lal in 2022; the project saw several delays in censor certification and a legal case, with some alleging it was "communal propaganda". On Saturday, Jani took to X to state that he had been getting repeated calls from an unknown number. The post, written in Hindi, also claimed that the caller had threatened to shoot him or kill him with a bomb. According to Jani's claims, the caller introduced himself as Tabrez. "Yeh khud ko Bihar ka rahne waala bata raha hai... iss par mukdma kayam karke isko giraftar kiya jaye," he wrote, urging the authorities to take the threats against him into cognisance and arrest the caller. Last month, the Central government granted Y-category armed security cover to the Udaipur Files producer in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. This decision came days after the Supreme Court allowed the producer to approach the police and seek protection as he alleged a threat to his life. Y-category security includes a detail of 8 to 11 personnel, including commandos, to protect the individual around the clock. Udaipur Files, which stars Vijay Raaz as Kanhaiya Lal, was initially slated for release on July 11, but kept facing delays owing to legal troubles. The apex court had directed the Delhi High Court to address challenges against the government's approval of the film's release. htc...
