India, Sept. 1 -- Prem Sagar, son of legendary filmmaker Ramanand Sagar, who is remembered for creating the iconic television series Ramayan, reportedly passed away yesterday, August 31 at 10 am. The 84-year-old was the father of producer Shiv Sagar. As per reports, Prem Sagar had been admitted the hospital. "He had been unwell for some time and was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai. On Sunday, doctors advised that he be taken home. He passed away this morning," confirmed a source to NDTV. His cremation was held yesterday at 3pm at Pawan Hans cremation ground in Mumbai. Prem Sagar was a noted cinematographer who carried on the Sagar family's legacy in Indian cinema and television. An alumnus of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune, he had a strong foundation in photography and cinematography.
