Rajkummar on Guru Purnima: My teachers have paid my school fees
India, July 10 -- Rajkummar Rao is not just a trained actor; he's also a skilled Taekwondo artist and a trained dancer. Speaking to us on Guru Purnima today (July 10), the 40-year-old credits his accomplishments to the guidance of his many teachers over the years.
"I don't have one guru, I have so many gurus," he tells us, crediting each of them for shaping his journey and success. He fondly remembers them all: "My martial arts teacher Mr Yamin, and my dance teachers Kamaljeet ma'am and Madhusudan sir supported me throughout. All my teachers at the Shri Ram Centre for Performing Arts and the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) have taught me so much about the world of acting."
For Rajkummar, it's not just about imbibing the classroom teaching, it's about their mentorship. "You are as good as your teacher and grab as much as your teacher gives you. For that, you have to have good teachers. So, that way I've been lucky," he shares.
The actor is filled with gratitude for their guidance and love: "Teachers have played a very important part in my life growing up. So many ofthem have paid my school fees for two-three years when things were tough."
Ask if he's still in touch with his teachers, and he responds with a smile, "Some of them, even now, yes."...
