ver the weekend, the wedding of Junaid Safdar, grandson of former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, sparked chatter online, with his bride's cross-border fashion choices turning into a talking point amid ongoing India-Pakistan tensions.
Junaid, the son of Punjab (Pakistan) Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, married Shanzeh Ali Rohail in Lahore, Pakistan.
Viral pictures from the celebrations showed Shanzeh in outfits reportedly by Indian designers - an emerald green Sabyasachi lehenga for the mehendi and a red Tarun Tahiliani saree for the nikah - prompting mixed reactions on social media.
While some users questioned the preference for Indian labels, others defended the bride, saying wedding fashion is personal and should not be politicised. Adding to the buzz, neither designer has shared the looks on their official social media handles so far, even as the outfits continue to trend online.
