Neha's now-deleted cryptic social media posts fuel speculation
India, Jan. 20 -- S
inger Neha Kakkar shared a series of emotional Instagram Stories on Monday, only to delete them minutes later, leaving her millions of followers confused and sparking widespread speculation online.
The drama began when the 37-year-old shared a Story that read like a farewell to her current lifestyle. In the message, she expressed an urgent need to disconnect from all aspects of her life. "Time to take a break from responsibilities, relationships, work and everything I can think of right now. Not sure if I'll be back or not. Thank you," she wrote.
Before fans could fully process the message, a second Story appeared, in which Neha made a direct appeal to the media and the public. "I request paparazzi and fans to not film me at all. I hope you respect my privacy and let me live freely in this world. No cameras plz! I request, this is the least you all can give me for my peace (sic)," she wrote.
The Stories were deleted within minutes, but screenshots had already begun circulating widely on social media.
While Neha has not officially addressed the reason behind her sudden outpouring of emotion, many have linked it to the harsh response to her latest single, Candy Shop. Released on December 15 last year, the song, a collaboration with her brother, singer Tony Kakkar, was met with significant online backlash. Social media users criticised the track for its "cringe" choreography, with several accusing the siblings of attempting and failing to replicate international K-pop aesthetics. The styling and visuals, in particular, became fodder for memes and online mockery.
