Nayak 2 on cards, confirms co-producer Deepak Mukut
India, Jan. 6 -- Actor Anil Kapoor, who played a common man-turned-Chief Minister for a day in Nayak: The Real Hero (2001), has now acquired the rights to the film. Originally produced by AM Rathnam, the rights were later held by producer Deepak Mukut, who confirms the sequel.
"The sequel is in the works, and Anil and I are producing it together. It's too early to reveal details as several discussions are still on," he tells us.
Known for producing films such as Sanam Teri Kasam (2016), Mulk (2018) and The Bhootnii (2025), Mukut remains tight-lipped about the production timeline and casting. But when asked whether Kapoor will also be seen on screen this time, he says, "Of course, he will!"
The original film, directed by S Shankar, also starred Rani Mukerji, Amrish Puri, Paresh Rawal, Saurabh Shukla, Johny Lever, Shivaji Satam and Neena Kulkarni. It was a Hindi remake of S Shankar's 1999 Tamil hit Mudhalvan....
