India, Oct. 20 -- Actor Yami Gautam Dhar, who was brought up in Chandigarh, will be celebrating Diwali there, soaking in the festive buzz and the comfort of familiar traditions: "Right from cleaning the house, getting new decor, kitchen utilities and buying gifts, the whole vibe is warm and filled with excitement." She hopes her one-year-old son Vedavid will grow up cherishing the same rituals she did: "We light diyas on Dhanteras, perform puja on Chhoti Diwali and make rangoli with soaked rice paste, drawing Maa Lakshmi's feet on the main day. Watching my mum make them without stencils was fascinating, and we'd be careful not to spoil them while playing around." She adds that her filmmaker-husband Aditya Dhar shares her love for these simple, meaningful traditions. "Vedavid is really young but loves watching the city lit up. We also make mitti ke ghar for the puja room and offer sweets in the mandir. He's always part of the puja and even helps when we're cleaning the house." Her fave part of Diwali is lighting diyas and filling the home with the warm glow and aroma of mustard oil. "Fairy lights are nice too, but I prefer warm tones, one steady glow. And when it comes to sweets, I love gulab jamun, kaju katli, gurpara, shakkarpara and mathi that are part of the shagun."...
