Miley Cyrus heckled as fans demand performance at film premiere
India, June 9 -- Singer-actor Miley Cyrus was heckled by fans in attendance at the Tribeca Film Festival premiere of her new visual album, Something Beautiful, on June 6. Fans, who reportedly paid up to $1,700 (over Rs.1.45 lakh) for tickets on third-party resale sites, mistakenly believed they were attending a concert.
The misleading ads for the tickets on sites such as StubHub and VividSeats led to confusion and frustration, culminating in shouts of "Sing!" and "We thought this was a concert" during a Q&A session at the Beacon Theatre.
Unaware of the ticketing mix-up, Miley (32) responded patiently, even performing an a cappella rendition of her 2009 hit, The Climb. The impromptu performance came after Disney lifted a ban on her performing Hannah Montana tracks, following her recognition as a Disney Legend.
Footage of the incident quickly went viral, prompting a strong defence from Miley's online fanbase, who condemned the hecklers as "rude" and "entitled," praising the Grammy winner's composed handling of the situation.
Neither Miley's team nor the Tribeca Festival has offered an official statement on the incident. Something Beautiful, featuring collaborations with artists like Brittany Howard and Naomi Campbell, was released on May 30 as a companion to Miley's new album of the same name.htc...
