India, Feb. 21 -- I n one of the cutest, and most heart-tugging stories of the week, a tiny Japanese macaque named Punch has gone viral for his unlikely source of comfort: a stuffed orange orangutan. Born in July 2025 at Japan's Ichikawa City Zoo, the 500-gram baby monkey was abandoned by his exhausted first-time mother. Anxious and distressed, Punch kept reaching out for comfort until zookeepers introduced the plush toy, which quickly became his surrogate mum. Photos and videos of Punch clinging to the toy while eating, sleeping and cautiously meeting other monkeys have flooded social media, with #HangInTherePunch trending globally. Fans have posted messages such as, "Sweet baby, I wish I could visit him every day," and "I just want to hold him and make him feel safe and loved." After weeks of relying on his stuffed companion, Punch is finally beginning to bond with real troop members. On February 17, zoo officials shared that an older monkey has started grooming him, marking a major milestone. Adding to the happy update, the Japan head of the company that makes the plush toy has donated multiple replacements, ensuring Punch will always have his comfort companion.htc...
