Mahira, Hania among Pak celebs blocked on Insta in India; Fawad, Atif still visible

n the aftermath of the terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, on April 22, which claimed 26 lives, the Indian government has asked Instagram to restrict access to several Pakistani celebrities' and content creators' accounts. Among those affected are popular actors Hania Aamir, Mahira Khan, Sanam Saeed, Imran Abbas and Ali Zafar, as well as Pakistani Olympic gold medallist javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem, whose Instagram accounts return the message: "Account not available in India. This is because we complied with a legal request to restrict this content." Interestingly, some prominent Pakistani personalities - such as actors Fawad Khan and Mawra Hocane, and singer Atif Aslam - remain accessible on the platform to Indian users as of the time of reporting. Insta profiles of Pasoori singers Shae Gill and Ali Sethi also continue to be viewable.
This digital clampdown follows another move by the Indian government just two days earlier, when it ordered a ban on 16 YouTube channels based in Pakistan. The list included media giants like Dawn News as well as the official channel of former cricketer Shoaib Akhtar. HTC...
