It's never too late to deck up your toilet
India, July 29 -- If the mid-year renovation itch is creeping, why not jump into the world of toilet decoration or toiletscaping. This trend is all about making the commode your throne, literally, with fluffy seat covers, fairy lights, rugs, and other decor pieces.
"The key to a luxurious washroom isn't in the money but in thoughtful creation," says Vatsal Vazir, head of design - CCI Projects. On the other hand, Sandeep Jain, director, Arkade Developers, believes in "using the right lighting and making clever choices with accessories to create a beautiful washroom that makes a statement".
When choosing faucets or basin fixtures, think out of the box in terms of form and colours like bronze, brass or matte black. These aren't just taps, they make a statement.
Add character by layering fabric or panelling the room. You can paint the walls, use wallpaper or add wood or fluted panels in rich colours, a technique used by luxury boutique hotels.
Black and white is classic, but you can also use darker colours like forest green, slate grey or inky indigo to paint your walls, floors and cabinets. This method allows to create an atmosphere of quiet luxury, without breaking the bank.
Lighting can be transformative for a toilet. Instead of relying on a single harsh ceiling light, layer the lighting for a softer glow with backlit mirrors, sconces or hidden LED strips under floating shelves or vanities. Control the light with dimmer switches to add a sense of luxury.
The textures from natural stone bring an immediate sense of richness and warmth. Explore affordable and unique options like travertine, soapstone or even alabaster-inspired composites. Use them strategically as a carved washbasin, a floating shelf, or even tiles.
One issue that many people face with their washrooms is storage. Wicker baskets are a simple way to organise the room and add a natural, earthy vibe. Place the baskets under the basin to store toiletries or laundry. Opt for versions with lids to keep things tidy....
