India, Sept. 13 -- Comedian Kapil Sharma is in hot water with the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) for referring to Mumbai as 'Bombay' or 'Bambai' on The Great Indian Kapil Show. He has been warned to stop using the city's former name, stating that it is an insult to the city and its people. MNS spokesperson Ameya Khopkar tweeted on X to express his displeasure. He posted a clip from an episode featuring sisters, actors Shilpa and Shamita Shetty, actor-siblings Huma Qureshi and Saqib Saleem. While speaking about her bond with her brother, Huma mentioned 'Bombay'. Ameya wrote: "Even though 30 years have passed since Bombay was officially renamed Mumbai, the term Bombay is still frequently used in Bollywood's Kapil Sharma Show celebrity guests, Delhi-based Rajya Sabha MPs, show anchors, and in many Hindi films (sic)." He also mentioned Kapil while speaking at an event in Mumbai: "You (Kapil Sharma) have been working in Mumbai for so many years... The people of Mumbai like you and watch your shows. Don't insult this city and the people of Mumbai... I'm warning you... I request you that if this happened by mistake, then correct it. Whoever comes on your show, tell them that they must not call Mumbai as 'Bombay' or 'Bambai'. If this does not happen, then the MNS will launch a strong agitation." HTC...
