I have taken A break from television: Siddharth nigam
India, July 11 -- Siddharth Nigam became a household name after playing the lead on the TV shows Aladdin - Naam Toh Suna Hoga and Hero - Gayab Mode On. Since then, he has dabbled in films with Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan (2023) and was recently seen in the web series Hai Junoon. But, it's been four years since his last small-screen outing.
Ask him about this hiatus, and he says, "For now, I have taken a break from TV," although, he clarifies that he has not quit the medium: "I'm not done with TV, but I'm waiting for a role that truly excites me. If I get a script that I feel is worth doing, I might think of it, but right now, my focus is on doing more in Bollywood. I'm looking for big projects, where everything is top-notch - from the story to production."
Transitioning into other mediums did come with the label of a 'TV actor' behind him, but Siddharth is unperturbed by it. "When you Google my name, you won't just find 'TV actor'; people know me as an actor because I have proved my mettle. If someone discovered me from television or social media, it means I'm doing something right. People can choose to call me what they want - I know I'm delivering good work and I respect television more than anything," says the 24-year-old.
Insisting that his journey hasn't been easy, Siddharth opens up about a phase where he was struggling financially and professionally. "There were no big offers coming in, and I didn't have anyone backing me, no godfather in the industry to help out financially or professionally. I had no choice but to shift into a 1 BHK apartment on rent to make ends meet," he shares, adding that going through that time humbled him to a great extent.
He shares: "I was already getting recognition, but we were still living very modestly. And that phase showed me that fame doesn't pay your rent. That phase changed me and taught me that nothing is permanent in life. It made me appreciate everything more. When people see me on screen now, they see the stunts, the glam, the posters. But very few know the journey behind it. And that journey, that rented a 1 BHK apartment, those quiet nights of doubt - they made me who I am."...
