Hard work and dedication helped me become the best: Usain Bolt
India, Sept. 28 -- Usain Bolt, known as the fastest man on Earth, was in Mumbai on September 26, and took the opportunity to speak with school students in the city. The eight-time Olympic gold medalist shared his journey and life lessons in an event hosted by Jamnabai Narsee School. When asked about the three words that defined his road to greatness, he said, "It is hard work and dedication. I loved track and field growing up, but it wasn't easy to get to the top. I pushed myself through injuries, doubts, and tough times, because I wanted to be the best."
A Grade 5 student asked him about his childhood inspiration, and Usain said, "I was a huge cricket fan and watching cricketers push themselves inspired me at a young age to work hard." Another student, an aspiring sprinter, asked which was tougher - winning his first Olympic gold or defending it. He admitted, "I think defending. It was easier to win the first time, but when you're being chased, it gets harder."
The session concluded with the 39-year-old sharing who inspired him most as an athlete - former American basketball player Kevin Garnett. "He was always motivating his teammates and believed he could do anything. I wanted to be that kind of person - strong, motivated, and always working hard to be the best I could be," he wrapped up....
