Julie Capozziello, a popular fitness coach, shares simple yet effective strategies to stay healthy and energised on the road. From smart meal choices to quick workouts and mindful indulgences, Julie shows that staying fit while travelling is all about balance, planning, and consistency.
Eat protein and fibre in the morning
Julie emphasises starting the day with protein and fibre, even while travelling. She suggests simple combinations, such as avocado with eggs, Greek yogurt with berries, or cottage cheese with chia seeds.
That doesn't mean you have to skip indulgences entirely. "You can have the muffin, the bagel, the coffee cake! Have what you want. Add what you need later," she adds.
Move for at least 30 minutes
Staying active is key. Julie recommends at least 30 minutes of physical activity each day, and a walk can be just as effective as a formal workout. "Exploring the new place you're in can count, and it can be literally at any point of the day," she says.
"If you are going somewhere, like visiting parents for Thanksgiving for 7-10 days, you can check if a local gym has a free week pass," Julie suggests.
Moderate alcohol and dessert
Julie prefers to limit herself to 1-2 drinks per day, but she emphasises balance over restriction. Desserts are fine in moderation as well: she advises splitting portions or pairing them with a meal that's lighter on carbs.
At restaurants, she recommends using tools like ChatGPT to scan menus and select macro-friendly options.
Essential travel gear
To make staying fit easier on the road, Julie suggests packing protein powder or bars, Chomps sticks, a water bottle, daily vitamins, gym clothes and sneakers.
