India, Dec. 11 -- Hyderabad-born model Bhavitha Mandal recently went viral on social media after becoming the first Indian woman to open the show for French luxury fashion house Chanel on December 2 under designer Matthieu Blazy. The 25-year-old, who moved to New York City to pursue her master's degree, was scouted on a subway by a talent representative last year - and the rest is history. Opening up about the milestone, Bhavitha wrote on Instagram, "I never imagined opening for such a prestigious brand as an immigrant and a woman of colour. Everything around me is sparkling with a kind of magic I never thought would find me." Reflecting on her journey from India to one of the world's biggest runways, she added: "Two years ago, I left India for the first time with a heart full of hope and fear, and a massive student loan. The city, in all its chaos, still welcomed me. When I was scouted at the Atlantic Avenue subway station, I initially said no, but when I realised I could pay off my student debt, suddenly no became maybe, okay, fine. He sent my photos to casting director Anita Elizabeth Bitton and through her, I met Matthieu. Since meeting him, the world feels full of possibility." Landing the job was just the beginning for Bhavitha. "I worked mornings, attended classes in the evenings, did homework at night, and flew to Europe every weekend to model," she wrote. "My parents never asked me to chase the extraordinary. They only wanted me to find happiness and peace in simplicity. Somehow, the extraordinary found me," she ends....
