Don't keep yourself second: Divya Dutta on turning a year older
India, Sept. 25 -- Actor Divya Dutta hopes to get an off from work today to ring in her 48th birthday the way she prefers: at home with her loved ones. "I've been shooting in Rishikesh. But I tell everyone, 'Listen, if I am back home from work even for half a day, I want to spend quality time with you'. It's a special day, and all my friends know this. It's sweet 16 for me," she shares.
The actor, who will be seen in a host of films, including one with Manoj Bajpayee, adds that turning 48 is a "mental frame of mind" and will not slow her down in any way. She explains, "When you are constantly doing something, reinventing yourself, you don't stay in the same phase where you feel low. Mere friends group mein mera mazaak udta hai: 'Yeh tikti toh hai nahi!' So I like it that way."
Having said that, Divya emphasises the need to pause amid busy schedules: "We underestimate gratitude - towards everyone else, yes, but also towards yourself. We must not underestimate the 'me time', where you pamper yourself for working hard. Don't keep yourself second. Jab khud ko khush rakhoge tabhi doosron ko khush rakh paaoge."
Recently, too, Divya made it a point to keep herself (and her friends) happy. One of her friend groups comprises actors Shabana Azmi, Urmila Matondkar, and Vidya Balan, among others. "It was Shabana ji's 75th birthday last week (September 18), so everyone manoeuvred plans accordingly. Even if the 10-11 of us are not available together, we play it by ear, and these impromptu plans turn out to be the most cathartic," she signs off....
