Cha Eun Woo's tax evasion case: Actor pays Rs.83 crore dues
India, April 10 -- South Korean actor-singer Cha Eun Woo has issued a public apology after being caught up in a tax evasion scandal earlier this year, confirming he has now paid all outstanding dues. The actor was reportedly assessed an additional 20 billion won (approx Rs.83 crore) in back taxes and penalties following a review by South Korea's National Tax Service.
Taking to Instagram, Cha wrote, "I sincerely apologise for the disappointment and confusion caused to many people, including my fans, due to the tax controversy."
He also acknowledged personal responsibility: "If there's a part I didn't take care of enough, the responsibility is also on me. I will not avoid saying 'I didn't know' or 'It was someone's decision' for any reason."
Cha further explained that the issue stemmed from processes linked to a company he founded while navigating changes in his career. Reflecting on the situation, he said he would adopt stricter standards moving forward to avoid similar issues.
Cha concluded that he has now cleared all dues and will strive to be more responsible in his decisions going forward.
The controversy sparked significant public criticism, with reports suggesting he was even removed from certain military-related promotional content amid the backlash. htc...
