Celebs pay tribute as Vibhu dies after cancer battle
India, June 4 -- Vibhu K Raghave died on June 2 after a three-year-long battle with a rare form of stage 4 cancer. The actor, 37, was being treated at Nanavati Hospital in Mumbai.
Actor Saumya Tandon confirmed his death in an Instagram post, and wrote: "My beautiful friend Vibhu Raghave with angels now. Left us last night. Vibhu you were beautiful. Inside and out. You taught me how to smile even when everything was falling apart. How to hold on to light when the world felt dark. You were a fighter till the very end - a real warrior. Even when people gave up hope, you kept going. You never stopped (sic)."
Known for his role in the daily soap Nisha Aur Uske Cousins (NAUC), he had a number of industry friends including actors Simple Kaul and Addite Malik, who had been raising funds for his treatment since the past three years.
Addite wrote on Instagram, "The purest soul, a beacon of strength & positivity. His smile could light up any room & his presence alone made everything feel better. He faced life with unmatched grace & left behind a love that will never fade. He will be deeply missed. Always (sic)."
Simple posted a picture of the actor and wrote, "You will be missed my dear friend @vibhuzinsta Love light and happiness to you (sic)."
Vibhu's NAUC co-star Mohsin Khan shared a series of pictures with the actor as he mourned the loss of his dear friend. Actor Karan Veer Mehra, too, shared a picture of Vibhu with a note on social media, "Too soon. Rest in peace brother (sic)." Vibhu's final rites were held yesterday (June 3) in Mumbai.
He was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2022, and routinely shared updates about his treatment on social media. In his last post, he shared details of his painful cancer battle. "A day at a time," Vibhu captioned the post, which he posted in mid-April.
The video showed him speaking to the camera about his cancer battle. He informed his fans that a scan had revealed that his cancer had spread from his liver to his lungs and spine. "Sadly, we found out the treatment was not working, and the cancer was spreading," said Vibhu.
